Caring for Your Coolaroo Fabric

Coolaroo fabrics are engineered for everyday life outdoors. With a little care, they’ll stay looking beautiful and performing their best season after season. Our innovative HDPE fabrics naturally resist mold, mildew, and fading, so maintenance is simple and stress-free.  

 

Regular Cleaning 

Keeping your Coolaroo fabric clean helps it last longer and look its best.  

  • Rinse regularly with clean water to remove dust, pollen, and debris 
  • When a deeper clean is needed, mix a mild detergent with warm water and gently scrub using a soft brush or sponge 
  • Rinse well and let the fabric air dry completely before using or storing again 
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or high-pressure cleaners as these can weaken fibers or affect UV protection 

 

Treat Stains Early 

Spills and marks are easiest to remove when they’re fresh and most can be treated with a gentle detergent solution.  

  • Apply a small amount of gentle detergent to the stain 
  • Gently scrub with a soft brush or cloth, then rinse well 
  • For stubborn marks, repeat the process rather than using abrasive cleaners 

 

Preventing Mold and Mildew 

Coolaroo fabrics are made with mold and mildew resistant materials, but dirt and leaves can trap moisture. 

  • Keep your shade, umbrella, or cover free of debris 
  • Make sure the fabric dries completely after rain or washing before folding or storing 
  • In humid areas, a light clean more often during the season helps maintain freshness
