Outdoor Roller Shade Maintenance

Coolaroo Outdoor Roller Shades are made with cutting-edge textiles which redefine the demands of fabric performance. Proper care ensures Coolaroo shades remain functional, aesthetically-pleasing, and durable for years to come. The following guidelines will help extend the lifespan of your shades through exposure to sun, rain, wind, and dust.

Maintenance Tips

  1. 1. A monthly inspection will identify any issues related to wear and tear on the blinds, allowing you to be proactive in preventing any damage to the shades.
  2. 2. Always ensure your roller shades are centered on the headrail to prevent sides from getting caught in the roller mechanisms and causing damage to the edges.
  3. 3. Roll up your shades when not in use.
  4. 4. Do not store your shade wet. Always air dry wet blinds in the down position before storing.
  5. 5. Use of caustic, chlorinated, or acidic cleaners is not recommended as these could damage the fabric.
  6. 6. HDPE fabric is naturally less sceptible to fungal growth, however, to further prevent mold and mildew, ensure proper ventilation and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
  7. 7. Ensure retracted blinds are appropriately tethered to minimize movement in the wind.
  8. 8. Never use a pressure washer to clean the blinds.

Cleaning Instructions

  1. 1. Remove Dust: Use a soft brush, cloth, or vacuum with brush attachment to remove loose dirt and dust.
  2. 2. Spot Cleaning: For grime or dirt that cannot be easily hosed off, clean with water, scrub with mild soap and any nonabrasive cleaner. Scrub both front and back, remove them, rinse and allow to air dry in the down positions.
  3. 3. Drying: Always let your shades air dry while they’re down. Don’t roll up your shades while they’re wet.
