Darker fabrics are best for minimizing glare from sunlight.
Lighter color fabrics are best for lowering temperatures.
For the most part, you can see quite well through all of the colors, though the darker the color, the easier it is for the eye to see beyond the fabric. This is due to the fact that the darker a color is, the more it absorbs light instead of reflecting any back into the room. However, the lighter the fabric, the better the shading coefficient.
Custom orders can be done through various retailers. Maximum sizes are 120-inch wide x 144-inch long for select fabrics. Maximum sizes are 96-inch wide x 144-inch long for select fabrics. Size restrictions do apply to some custom order fabrics. Check with your retailer for details.
The width can be a maximum of 120 inches (10 feet) to a minimum 36 inches (3 feet). Depending on fabric used.

Roller Shades

Yes, they are practically maintenance free. Clean when opened completely with a light soap and water solution and a sponge, soft bristle brush or a dust removal cloth product. An adjustable flow garden hose can be used on a low-pressure, spray (cone or flat pattern) setting. Before rolling up blinds, please ensure blinds are completely dry.
Yes. The lock stitch design of the exterior shades blocks damaging UV rays up to 98%, protecting furniture, carpets, and decor like artwork, lamp shades, throws & pillows, and even wood flooring and paint on the walls from fading.
Not when the exterior is brighter than the interior-during daylight hours for instance. However, if the interiors are lighted, at night, for example, visibility is possible. If complete privacy is required, additional measures are required.
Yes, you can still see the great view or people approaching since the roller shades filter and diffuse bright sunlight to provide the UV & glare protection.
During the day, you will have increased privacy, but still be able to see through the material from the inside. At night, however, vague forms or shadows can possibly be seen depending on the intensity of the lighting, so in some cases, the sunshade alone may not satisfy privacy requirements. We recommend a secondary window treatment for privacy.
Our shades are suitable for a variety of outdoor areas or open structures that require shade - such as gazebos, lanais, patios, porches (screened or not), carports and exterior windows/doors.

Shade Fabric

The coated (shiny) side should always be installed facing the sky. When installing Weather Proof shade cloth it is important that it is fixed on a minimum 20-degree angle to ensure adequate water run-off.
While Coolaroo shade cloth is equally effective in protection from the elements either side up, we recommend that the cloth is installed with the rough side facing down. This helps prevent falling dust particles and debris getting caught within the fabric knit, making it easier to keep clean.
Use a soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent or soft bristle brush. Rinse and allow to dry. Do not use a machine washer or dryer.
No. You can cut the fabric without any raveling or fraying. If you want a finished edge, you can simply turn that edge under and fasten or sew.
No, water can mist through as it is a knitted shade cloth specifically designed for sun protection and is a breathable fabric, which allows airflow.

Shade Sails

Shade Sails should be installed with the rougher side (usually the hemmed side) facing toward the ground. This will help prevent falling dust and debris getting caught within the coarser knit of the fabric.
Care instructions for each product can be found on their relevant product page, however, if this is not available please refer to our article on how to clean your shade sail.

Structures

There are several options to secure a cantilever umbrella to the ground when a weighted base is not available. The best method is to use heavy duty fasteners to screw it to the ground. However, if you use your umbrella in various locations, placing four concrete pavers onto the cross-base is an effective way of temporarily weighing down the umbrella.

Note that all outdoor umbrellas should always be taken down in windy conditions, to avoid damage.
